Experts say …
“I only believe in statistics that I doctored myself.”
A 2018 study found that 93.6% of the articles published in radiology journals had statistical errors (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6411271/).
A 2016 study shows that medical error is the third leading cause of death in the US (251,000 per year, https://www.bmj.com/content/353/bmj.i2139). This result was disputed in other studies, arguing it is only about a tenth of that number.
In March, the fatality rate of the corona virus was estimated to be 3.4%. In May, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) published a new best estimate of 0.26% (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/hcp/planning-scenarios.html).
So much for scientific studies, experts, and truth. Science is but a huge cooking pot full of changing perspectives and opinions.
An expert is somebody who can explain why she/he was wrong yesterday.
When we do what experts say, we are their guinea pigs.
What does nature say? What does common sense say?
BTW: The two bars are equally long.
